Some of Pete's stories I can link with a particular ship. Others will be included here. Up Channel Night - there would be a party onboard which took lots of preparation. Everyone was usually issued with a maximum of 3 beers per day, so cans would be secreted around the ship in advance, so that they was no shortage on the night. In order to avoid detection, no one drank their beer from a can, but it would be served up in small cups, that could be regularly topped up. The empty cans were removed on a regular basis, so no check could be kept on how much everyone was drinking. Obviously a good time was had by all!
